Introduction
6 MP 50mg Tablet contains mercaptopurine, an antimetabolite chemotherapy medicine that interferes with the formation of DNA and RNA in rapidly dividing cells, helping slow or stop the growth of abnormal blood cells.
Uses
- Used mainly in the treatment and maintenance therapy of acute lymphoblastic leukaemia and certain other blood cancers, as directed by an oncologist.
Storage
- Store in the original package at room temperature, generally between 15°C and 25°C.
- Protect from moisture and keep out of reach of children.
Safety Information
- Use only under specialist supervision.
- Regular blood counts and liver-function tests may be required.
- Inform the doctor about infections, liver disease, pregnancy, breastfeeding, vaccinations, and all other medicines.
- Avoid handling broken tablets with bare hands.
Possible Side Effects
Possible side effects may include:
- Nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, fatigue, diarrhoea, rash, low blood-cell counts, anaemia, low platelets and raised liver enzymes.
