Introduction
Abirapro 250mg Tablet contains abiraterone acetate. It lowers androgen production by blocking the CYP17 enzyme, helping slow the growth of prostate cancer cells that depend on male hormones.
Uses
- Used, usually with prednisolone or another corticosteroid, for advanced or metastatic prostate cancer in adult men.
Storage
- Store below 30°C in a dry place.
- Keep in the original packaging and out of reach of children.
Safety Information
- Take on an empty stomach exactly as prescribed.
- Monitoring of liver function, blood pressure and potassium may be needed.
- Inform the doctor about heart, liver or kidney disease and all medicines being taken.
- It is unsafe in pregnancy and breastfeeding; effective contraception is required.
Possible Side Effects
Possible side effects may include:
- Swelling, vomiting, low potassium, fatigue, anaemia, urinary-tract infection, diarrhoea, high blood pressure, cough, joint swelling, nausea, hot flushes, headache and increased blood glucose.
- Serious liver problems and heart-rhythm disturbances may occur.
